Love, The Fruit of The Spirit

07:57

Galatians 5:22, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,"

Love isn't what we pray to do. Love isn't what we fast and have to learn to show. Everyone that has believed on Jesus has been endued with the spirit to love.

For it's through the spirit of God that our sonship is confirmed. So, love is a fruit of that spirit.
As many as are born of the spirit has been empowered to love. You aren't going to be trying to love. You aren't going to be struggling to love. You would love unconditionally if that Spirit (God) of love is in you.

Kindness is not love, but love is kind.
Giving is not love, but love gives. Wisdom and eloquence of a man is not love, but love is wise (see 1 Corinthians. 13:1-4).

Most of those above named things are nature a man can inherit or possess. That's why Paul was saying though we have all of those things and have no love, it profited us nothing.

Kindness can be fake, giving can be fake, wisdom can be fake. But one thing that can never be fake is true love, because true love is divine.

John 14:17 talks about the spirit of truth whom the world can not receive.
If God is Spirit and love at the same time, and the love in question is a fruit of that Spirit which is God. Then, it will be very difficult for the unsaved world to show or posses it.

And glory! You're saved.

You're no longer the world who would not be able to love truly. You will henceforth show that God (true love) is in you.

Unconditional Love

Matthew  5:44, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.  5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?  5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?  5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

It has become a public song in our generation to always say nobody is perfect.

But the above scriptures point our view to certain dimension of reality which is able to make us perfect.

It start out by telling us to love our enemies. How on earth will I love my enemies?
But, we were once enemies to God and yet He loved us still.

His next word is "...bless them that curse you"

Wow! You mean I should not bother or consider people's inabilities to please me in showing them love?

What!

"...do good to them that hates you and pray for them that despitefully use you". Hmm, this is serious!

This mean that no matter the gravity of anybody's offence, you shouldn't take offense in them in showing divine love which is in your spirit.

But something really caught my attention in verses 45 and 48.
"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust... Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
The Bible says that by showing unbiased love to enemies alike, you have succeeded in been a son of God. That exactly, He did, by giving rain and sun equally to both good and bad.

Do you see what bring you into the very class of God?

Showing equal love to everyone irrespective of race and colour

Then verses 47 and 48 talks about the unprofitableness in trying to be kind, to give and salute mainly those that salute you. Greeting those that greet you won't make you any better than unbeliever. You should greet everyone and do good to all.

Remember what Paul also said in 1 Corinthians 13:3. Does it sound familiar?

Let's see 1 Corinthians 13:3, "And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing."

When I started, remember I told you that giving is not love. But love gives.

"Oh! Bro so so and so gave me money that's why I always remember him in prayers than Sister B who would rather be envy of my gift."  You have just strayed away from the very life of love Christ would want you live. "I'm not concern about her. She lack respect for me. I would rather watch her go astray than talking to her" (even when you have what it takes to save her). If you're like that, I'm sorry, you need to check your relationship with God to know what is wrong. You have to get back to your first love which you received at salvation. If God (Love) is in you. That sister's offence won't have lowered that love in you, no matter what she has done.

Your inner man is not agreeing with you though because it is saved. Your spirit wants you to exhibit its fruit but the flesh is saying no to that.
Check into your spirit rather than the voice of your flesh in dealing with all issues of life.

Now, verse 48 says something very uncommon, "be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect"
Do you know what that means?

Showing love unconditionally to friends and enemies alike is the certificate of your perfection.

You can't reign with God without that certificate of perfection on the last day.

It is not longer a difficult thing for you to show. You have have the Holy Spirit in you. He would help you to love unconditionally, if you so determined.

The end of the law is love.
