Bible study plan

Kindly watch the video below:

As instructed by God in 2 Timothy 2:15, we are to study to show ourselves approved.
This is our focus for Bible plan this year.
This type of study won't come from casual reading, or merely trying to meet the daily deadline of number of chapters, in which the heart might not be involved.

In most reading plans (like ours), there are many verses or chapters of the Bible to read on a daily basis. But in study plans, you have little to read, but you must take time to ponder over what you have read.

Here's a way to illustrate reading the Bible and studying/meditating on the Bible:

Assuming you were given an orange. You cannot have a taste of it immediately. You will have to peel off the orange (this is reading), cut it and squeeze it (this is studying/meditating) before the juice in it can come out.
The juice in the word of God can only be gotten as you read, study and meditate on the scriptures.

Reading the Bible creates awareness of whatever opportunity, virtue, glory and life you have in Christ; while meditating on the scriptures bring you to the deepest realm of getting hold on those divine opportunities. You may be aware you have money in your bank account, but if you do not reach out for it, it would be there forever.

Through meditation, we reach out to our inheritance in God. This is simply because as we meditate, we gain the grace to be able to do according to all that we have read. When you get to this point, good success is automatic.

Joshua 1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

Considering the scripture above, you would agree with me that continuous meditation on God's word has a way of compelling one to act on what he meditates on.

Believers today find it difficult to follow all divine instruction not that they do not "love God", but because they simply put aside the help provided by this scripture— continuous and daily meditation on God's word.

Continuous and daily meditation on God's word guarantees help needed to actively follow all divine ordinances.

2 Corinthians 3:18, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Consider the scripture above.
"But we all with open face BEHOLDING as in a glass the glory of the Lord..."
This shows that meditating on divine status must be continuous (beholdING). After this, we "...are changed into the same image from glory to glory..."

If you can be committed to staying long with the Word, God will keep to His word and change you from one level of good success to another, even as by His Spirit!

Proverbs 4:18, "But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day."

If you yield yourself to the world, the world will dominate and rule over you. When you yield yourself to God, He will rule and dominate your life for His glory.
This means that, as you give preference and continuously meditate on God's word, the Spirit of God will come upon you, cleanse you of your sin, and strengthen you.

John 15:3, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you."

John 17:17, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

You have no power of your own to live a holy life. You have no grace of your own to resist sin. But when you come to Him through His word, that grace to resist sin and to live right would be supplied.

Don't say "I will be bold to read the Bible, go to church and pray when I'm able to stop sinning".
No, it doesn't work like that. Actually, that is how the devil wants you to think. He knows that you can't stop sinning without reading and studying the scriptures.

If you don't study and pray, there won't be a supply of grace to stand against all those easily besetting sins.

Hebrews 4:16, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

We are giving you that opportunity to "...come boldly to the throne of grace..." through continuous meditation on God's word.

HOW TO MEDITATE ON GOD'S WORD

These few points will help you to meditate on God's word:

📌 When you read the portion of the Bible for the week on the first day, you would pray and tell God to reveal things to you in that scripture.

📌 When you're confused about what you have read, ask the Holy Spirit to explain it more to you, after all, He's the author and no one will understand it better than Him.
I'm assuring you that He will speak from within you and explain better. I experience this indwelling presence of God in my life. Whenever I'm meditating on God's word and I don't understand, I will ask Him to help, and He always helps. He will do same with you.

📌 All these processes should be done at all times, (either you are in your office, or where you're less busy), consider those portion of the Bible you read and seek to know what they are saying.

📌 Always have a jotter and a pen around you. This is necessary because the Holy Spirit teaches at any time. The Holy Spirit would definitely inspire you when you are committed to meditating on God's word, therefore, it is necessary that you document all that He inspires (see John 14:26)
